The Abhiruchi Sports Day is to be celebrated in Delhi on 3rd September from 9:00 AM onwards. Each year, the 3rd Sept has been observed as 'Abhiruchi Sports Day" in Assam to mark the birth day celebration of Sri Bhogeswar Barua , the first arjuna award recipient from Assam. He was one of the first Assamese to win gold at an international event, winning a He gold medal in an 800-metre running event of at the 1966 Asian Games. He also won a silver medal in the 4 x 400 metres relay in the 1970 Asian games The day to be observed with sports activities and the Talkatora Stadium has been chosen to mark the event. A few friendly Cricket matches have been arranged on this occasion as follows viz. Borluit Delhi vs Gurugaon XI 10:00 AM and All Assam Students' Association-XI Vs Kaziranga Kings 2:30 PM . The organizer has requested all sports lovers to attend the event.
