Today on 11th February 2023, I visited the Ancient Vishnu Mandir located at the top of the Payhali Pahar hillock. It is believed to be several hundreds years old , constructed under the patronage of king Arimatta at that time. This region was full of several ancient mandirs but washed away during the passage of time . This mandir was maintained by caretakers till few years back. After the sudden demise of the last caretaker, this mandir has been maintained by local people and they have constructed a few structure here . Several historical monuments were found during excavations of this area which were shifted to State museum, Guwahati. If more efforts are made to know more about the historical background of the Mandir, obviously some interesting facts should come up which should help to convert this region as one of favourite tourism spot of the entire North Bank of the river Brahmaputra. This area is one of the most picturesque in the region in the foothills of Assam Arunachal border. The river Dikrong is just nearby , the commercial town Banderdewa which is gateway to Arunachal Pradesh's state capital Itanagar is hardly a few kilometres. There are obviously tremendous scope of tourism of this locality.
