He is a Fellow of the Institution of Engineers (India). He also has Certificate in French Language and Pragya in Hindi.
He has special interest in the affairs of Society & community development and served in various capacities in voluntary organisations like Assam Association, Delhi; Majuli Island Protection & Developemnt Council (MIPADC), Jeevan Initiative, Asomi, Sadhani Bhavan. He was instrumental in commissioning of Srimanta Sankaradeva Bhawan in the national capital. He actively campaigned to make Sattriya a classical dance, to get World Haritage status for Majuli. He hosted a TV talk show in Rengoni/Prag Channel to highlight intrinsic qualities of successful people. He also writes occasionally on tourism and developmental ideas. Loves to travel and visited China, US, EU, South East Asia, West Asia etc. He has been interviewed by DD, AIR, TV Channels, Newspapers extensively.
He jumped into a Rs. 2 cr entrepreneurial venture at a young age of 24 quitting a cosy job with Hero-Honda. However due to a non-conducive eco-system his first generation venture was decommissioned. He exited from the venture to come out of doom. He thus tasted failure at a tender age and is well experienced to guide and mentor young & budding entrepreneurs. Married to a Doctor, Mr. Das's daughter studies in Ecole Polytechnique, Paris and a son in XII (Sc).
Amiable, humble, down to earth and accessible, Mr Das’s motto is to touch as many peoples’ lives as possible and assist. He is a thinker and believes big projects like dredging of the river Brahmaputra & its tributaries to mitigate flood, promote navigation, reclaim 1.5 mn hectares of land, establish north east industrial corridor, converting Guwahati into a metro of 15 Mn people, creating an aerotropolis in Upper Assam, opening international borders for trade, creation of a spiritual tourism circuit from Parsuram Kund to Dhuburi etc. will change the economic scenario of NER. He vouches for a separate NER Time Zone.
