The World Senior Citizen’s Day was observed on 1st October by Biyoli Chora, the society constituted by Assamese Senior Citizens living in Delhi NCR Region . A colorful evening program “Uddiponna” was organised at the Auditorium hall of Srimanta Sankaradeva Bhawan, New Delhi to mark the occasion.

At the outset, Sri Nripendra Nath Gogoi welcomed all participants for the special event which was followed by observing one minute silence to pay respect to a few departed members viz. Troilokya Khound, Duleswar Chakravarty, Dr Gauri Kanta Handique, Utpola Bora etc.

The program started with Guru Vandana by Jogeswar Hazarika. Sanskrit Sholkas was recited by Col Jiten Hazarika . The 8th edition of Annual mazagize “ Biyoli” was launched by Srijt Nripendra Nath Gogoi, President. Smti Deshna Mahanta and Smti Garima Mahanta performed Borgeet. Total 13 nos of Senior Citizen members were felicitated who have attained 80 plus age viz. Smti Mayarani Majinder Baruah, Smti Chaya Hazarika, Sri Achyut Saikia, Ishwar Prasanna Hazarika, Jiten Hazarika, Chandra Bora, Kamdev Mahanta , Gouranga Dhar Rajkhowa, Sri Nripen Gogoi, Sri Madan Prasad Bezbaruah and Sri jogeswar Hazarika
Three nos of books written by members were launched viz. Smritir Paori Butoli by Dr Neelamani Sarma, Byokti Aru Bikhoy by Hiranya Kumar Das and SadhyaRag by Sri Hironlal Dutta. A few Songs were performed viz. Smti Arunima Sarma Mahapatra, Smti Mayarani Majinder Baruah and Sri Gauranga Dhar Rajkhowa. Recitation of one self composed poem was performed by Dr Bani Bora. Dr Arun Sarma Ex MP delivered a few words in the event. The Vote of Thanks was offered by Vice President Sri Sivaram Deuri. The event was anchored by Smti Jayantimala Borpuzari. The jatiya Sangeet ‘O Mur Apunar Desh’ was performed at the end. Dinner was arranged for the participants which was contributed by Smti Reena Handique in the memory of her late Husband Dr. Gauri Shankar Handique.
