The infrastructure development work of Srimanta Sankaradeva Bhawan, New Delhi which is the office cum Guest house of Assam Association Delhi located at Satsang Vihar Marg, Qutab Institutional Area, New Delhi –67 has been started from 25th October 2021 after receiving the first installment of amounting Rs 30 Lakh from Government of Assam towards the project viz. “Scheme of Infrastructure Development of Srimanta Sankaradeva Bhawan, New Delhi.
It is to be mentioned that a proposal for up gradation of Srimanta Sankaradeva Bhawan was submitted to Srijt Sarbanada Sonowal, the erstwhile Chief Minister of Assam during his visit to Srimanta Sankaradeva Bhawan on 4th February 2020 to interact with Assamese communities living in Delhi NCR Region.
Immediately after formation of the new Government led by hon’ble Chief Minister of Assam Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma, the project viz “Infrastructure Development of Srimanta Sankaradeva Bhawan, New Delhi” amounting Rs 50 Lakh was sanctioned under Untied Fund Scheme 2020-21 with an instruction to submit the estimate and a new bank account towards the project. Though initially there was some delay in opening a new bank account due to corona endemic, but once the locked down was over, the estimate as well as the new bank account were submitted to Government of Assam/ After receiving, Deputy Commissioner Kamrup metro released the first installment amounting Rs 30 Lakh on 2nd October , 2021.

Prior to this , Government of Assam notified the Construction Committee of the Srimanta Sankaradeva Bhawan, New Delhi with the following members viz. Smti Anjali Barooah President, Sh. Dibyojit Dutta Secretary, Sh. Pradyut Barthakur EE (Civil) PWD(Building), Assam House Technical Member , Sh. A. K. Srivastava EE(Electrical) PWD (Building) ,Assam House ; Rupen Goswami Managing Trustee , Dr Nilamani Sarmah and Mr Hironlal Dutta.
Now as per the estimate, the following items of works have been proposed viz. converting all non-attached room into attached bathroom room including the Dormitories, Renovation work of toilets on all floors, Change of vitrified tile flooring, improving various rooms, dining room, construction of a new library room, Internal and external painting,, electrical fixtures, Concertina coil fencing on boundary wall etc . The total estimate came around Rs 50 Lakh.
This infrastructure development works needs to be implemented as per the guidelines framed under Untied Fund of Government of Assam where involving contractor is not allowed. Also all bills submitted must be with GST. As per the instruction, the renovation works have been started from 25th October 2021 and expected to be completed soon.
