Annual General Body Meeting of Assam Association Delhi held

New Delhi 24th January - The Annual General Body meeting of Assam Association Delhi was held yesterday dated 23rd January 2021 from 4:00 PM onwards at Srimanta Sankaradeva Bhawan, New Delhi. Around 30 life members were attended the meet physically and another 10 nos Life members joined through web-room link created through Google Meet.
At the outset, two minutes silence was observed to mark respect to a few departed souls viz. Dr Dilip Dutta, Ashok Bhagawati, Tarun Gogoi , Ahindra Lal Bhuyan, Dr Gauri Kanta Handique, Utpala Bora, Binapani Handique, Abhijit Dihingia, Gauri Barman , Dr Jayanta Madhab and Anuradha Bezbaruah.
Then the meeting started with welcome address by Smti Anjali Baruah, President who spoke about various difficulties faced due to the COVID-19 pandemic and inspite of these difficulties, the Association could able to perform several activities with close cooperation from EC members , Trustees and other well-wishers.
After that Sri Dibyojit Dutta, General Secretary, Assam Association Delhi presented the Activity report where he mentioned the various activities performed by the EC since the day of assumption of charge i.e. 7th September 2019 till date of which a notable are viz. Participation in the Curtain Raiser event at CSOI Auditorium on 15th October 2019 ,participation in North East Expo’2019 particularly in the Khadi Fashion Show i.e. "Khadi Goes Global", Celebration of Magh Bihu on 19th January at Srimanta Sankaradeva Bhawan with multi-dimensional activities; Heart -to- Heart interaction with Sri Sarbananda Sonowal, Chief Minister of Assam at Srimanta Sankaradeva Bhawana with Assamese Community living in Delhi/NCR; Rejuvenation Plan for Sattriya School of Assam Association, Delhi submitted to Sangeet Natak Akademy; Steps to improve the Financial Crisis of Srinamnta Shankaradeva Bhawan , supports towards Stranded people during COVID-19 lock-down through necessary coordination with various agencies, NGOs, individuals etc. ; Performing the last rite of COVID +ve dead-body of patient from Assam which dead body could be detected in Mortuary of LNJP hospital after 10 days of his death; Online Assamese Poetry Recitation Competition during July 2020 in three categories i.e. Group A ( upto class 6 ), Group B ( Class 7 to Class 10 ) and Group C ( Class XI & XII) ; Special dive for Life membership of Assam Association Delhi , Publication of Jogajog , Publication of Samayik , Improvement of Jogajog - the monthly newsletter of AAD , updation of AAD Directory , rejuvenation of AAD Website , celebration of Jyoti Divas on 17th January 2021 through Google Meet etc. ( The detailed report is attached).
After than the Audited Account of AAD 2019-20 was presented by Sri Dipak Saikia, Treasurer, AAD. Detailed discussion was held on the above two reports. A few notable queries raised were i.e. Sri Robin Kalita ( through Webroom) on Activity Report about the status of AAD Directory2021 and whether updating going on. In this regard, it was told that the ‘AAD Directory 2021’ edition is expected to be published by April 2021 and the database updation has been going on. On Treasurer report, a more detail breakup was sought on the last Rongali Bihu celebration in the April, 2019 which Treasurer agreed .
After that, the presentation of Audited Account of Assam Association Cultural and education Trust (AACET) was done by erstwhile Managing Trustee i.e. Sri Hare Krishna Das. A few queries were raised by members i.e. Income Tax issue and step taken to sort it out etc. which MT elaborated.
After that Samayik –the literary periodical of Assam Association Delhi for Magh Bihu 2021 edition was launched by Senior members presented in the Meeting. This edition of Samayik has been edited by Dr Bipul Kumar Baruah with Advisory panel consists of Dr. Malaya Khaund, Mr. Hiron Dutta, Dr. Jayantimala Barpujari and Mr. Manik Das. The Cover was designed by Ms Garima Baruah and this periodical is published by Sh. Dibyojit Dutta. It consist of 56 Nos pages with varieties of articles.
After that the Discussion session on various issues vis. Amendment of Bye Laws , Adoption of Resolution etc started. Prof Binod Khadria moved a draft resolution seconded by Sri Rupen Goswami to create a new category of membership of AAD, e.g. “Friends of AAD” covering institutions/ persons spreading across the world, which was elaborately discussed . Several members spoke in favour of the draft resolution viz. Sh. Rupen Goswami, Smti. Anjali Barooah, Sh. Prasanta Kr Das, Sh. Pradip Sarmah, Dr Bani Bora, Sh. Robin Kalita ( Webroom) etc. Later it was decided to forward to EC for further discussion and then to re-produce before AGM.
Subsequently, the other issues i.e. Transferring % of income of Trust to be transferred to AAD , Inclusion of Annual Subscription from members @ Rs 500/- each year, Constitution of committee for stock entry of AAD & Trust and Extension of tenure of EC to 31t March 2022 due to Covid-19 pandemic etc. were discussed. Finally the ‘Vote of thanks’ was offered by Dr B. M. Hazarika VP . In his speech, he offered thanks to all participated in the event particularly those members who had come from far away places inspite of COVID-19 pandemic. He also expressed thanks to Sri Hiranya Borah who had presented 5(five) Nos. books to the Library of Assam Association Delhi located in Srimanta Sankaradeva Bhawan written by himself viz. Random Thoughts through a coloured prism(Inspirational Essays), Random Stories and Dilemma of an Old Man ( Inspiration Essays), How to become unpopular ( Inspirational Essays), Father’s Choices; A Story of True love ( Novel) and Three Goddesses and One Rascal( Novel). Mr Borah is a prolific writer since his school days and already published a large nos of novels .
